A SENSATIONAL 40-yard volley helped AFC Premier Division’s Bealonians on their way to a 4-0 derby romp over visiting Hale End Athletic.
John Butler’s 15th-minute effort opened the floodgates for further goals from Anthony Anderson and Carl Taylor before Butler himself completed the rout.
In Senior 3 South Centymca extended their lead over second-placed Old Guildfordians with a 4-0 win. Centymca’s goals came Mark Mannerson and Dave Moose braces.
In AFA Cup action, Old Aloysians travelled to Crouch End Vampires and found themselves 1-0 down after ten minutes, courtesy of Lee Gregory. Dean O’Neill’s second-half strike put them even further ahead.
Aloysians’ player/manager Dave Norman brought himself on and reduced the arrears then his side equalised through Sean O’Donnell tucked home with his left.
A Tom Palmer scissors kick sealed it for Aloysians seven minutes from time. But Norman modestly put the win down to his own inspired decision to introduce himself!
Also in cup action, Old Hamptonians took the lead against Winchmore Hill, Barney Lawrence-Jones firing home. A second-half Andy Barrell penalty made the score 1-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.
Extra time was scoreless, and as the game went into penalties the key moments came as James Holdsworth saved twice, and his old boys team-mates held their nerves to seal a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win.
Old Meadonians lost out in a seven-goal thriller away to Polytechnic, thanks to late goals from Shane Cunliffe and Mark Cringle.
