Harriers Sign Lambs Strikerby Andy White Thursday, July 29, 2010
KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS have signed striker Nick Wright on a free transfer from Tamworth.
The 22-year-old frontman started out at Birmingham City and spent two years with the Blues, during which time he had spells on loan at Bristol City and Northampton Town.
He left St Andrews in 2007 and joined Halesowen, spending the first few months of the 2007/08 season with the Yeltz before linking up with Tamworth.
Wright immediately hit his stride with the Lambs and bagged ten goals in 22 matches.
The following season he scored 13 times - including the goal that gave Tamworth a 1-0 win over Hinckley and clinched them the Blue Square North title.
Wright was placed on the transfer list midway through last season and looked set to sign for eventual Blue Square Premier winners Stevenage. However, the deal fell through and he remained at the Lamb.
The England C international has now signed for Kidderminster and Harriers boss Steve Burr is delighted to have brought him to Aggborough.
Speaking to the club's website, Burr said: "I'm really pleased to have Nick on board - he'll give us an option we haven't got in the squad at the moment.
"He's young and he's had a very good career with Tamworth and hopefully we can push him on.
"He ticks all the right boxes for us and with the pace and strength he has he'll give us something different to what Lee Morris and Chris McPhee can give us."
