Moore Made Mariners Number Twoby Andy White Friday, July 30, 2010
GRIMSBY TOWN have appointed former Mariners player Dave Moore as their new assistant manager.
Moore, who made over 140 appearances for the club as a player, has previously managed at Scunthorpe United and also had a spell as number two at Hull City.
The 50-year-old had been working as the club's physiotherapist and will continue do so while stepping into the managerial role left vacant by the departure of Chris Casper, who left Blundell Park to become a youth coach at Manchester United this week.
Mariners boss Neil Woods feels Moore will do a great job as his assistant and told the club's website: "I had no hesitation in appointing
Dave as my number two, he is not only an excellent physiotherapist but
he also has a vast wealth of knowledge on football, having been involved
at all levels of the game.
"He also has a real passion for the club
having been born here and played for his home town club before becoming youth team manager. I know that he will make a significant impact on the
coaching and fitness development of players and I am pleased to have to
such an experienced person as my assistant."
