Quakers Close On Terry Signing

by Andy White
Friday, July 30, 2010

PAUL TERRY looks set to join Blue Square Bet Premier new boys Darlington.

The 31-year-old midfielder is currently without a club having left Rushden & Diamonds last season and Quakers boss Mark Cooper is keen to bring in cover in the centre of the pitch.

Cooper told the club's website: "We've got a few bits to sort out but all being well he'll sign.

"He brings a wealth of League One, League Two and Conference football with him.

"He was arguably Rushden's best player last year and with the injury worries, Michael Brough and Gary Smith's unstable ankle, it potentially leaves us short in that area so I thought it was prudent to bring in another experienced midfield player."

Terry, who started his career with Dagenham & Redbridge, played for Yeovil, Leyton Orient and Grays before joining Rushden last summer.
