It’s looking up for Boro as betting deal helps to raise funds

LIKE hundreds of sports clubs around the country, are benefitting from a personalised betting service.

These services are powered by MyClubBetting, an organisation who have pumped £15,000 into grassroots over the last six months.

The Surrey-based company are one of the largest providers of grassroots funding in the country. Unlike traditional bookmakers, their sites provide clubs with various rewards, including additional revenue and equipment.

Once a team has registered, MyClubBetting provide them with a fully personalised site, social media assistance and promotional materials – all free of charge.

From then onwards, the club receives 20% of all net losses made on the site. Free kit and equipment can also be earned once certain incentives are reached.

Being a South team, are among the highest-ranked football clubs in the country currently using a MyClubBetting site.

Alex Pike's side are looking to build on a solid 2015-16 campaign which saw them finish agonisingly short of the play-off spots.

However, after a solid start, the Hampshire club have hit a wall, with losses against the likes of and hampering their progress.

To celebrate the introduction of their personalised betting service, the Hampshire club invited MyClubBetting to host a launch at Privett Park, which took place during their game with last Saturday afternoon.

The Gosport Borough Chairman, Mark Hook is delighted that his club has teamed up with MyClubBetting, and was integral in making the launch day happen.

“The guys at MyClubBetting are doing so much to help football clubs around the country, it really is great to have them here today,” Hook said.

“Boro fans who like an occasional bet can help us boost funds by using our bespoke site and if they lose – the club will get 20 per cent of the net revenue that the bookmaker earns.

“In my eyes, every grassroots club in the country should have one,” he added.

The MyClubBetting team were out in force for the Boro's game with Chelmsford City – giving away a £50 bet at half time, along with a shirt signed by the hosts' first team.

One man in attendance was Les Dodd, a Regional Director at MyClubBetting. As part of his role, Dodd manages the partnership between MyClubBetting and Gosport Borough.

“In terms of football clubs currently using our service, they don't come much bigger than Gosport Borough” stated Dodd.

“They have the ability to set an example to clubs around the country. If it is good enough for a heavyweight, then it is good enough for any grassroots club.”

Everyone at Privett Park seemed upbeat before kick-off, however, things didn't go the way of the hosts, with suspensions to key players eventually costing Boro.

Despite being only a goal behind at the break, the hosts were heavily beaten by Chelmsford City. The 550 fans in attendance witnessed a superb second half performance from the visitors, who eventually ran out 6-0 winners after a capitulation from Boro.

Spirits were lifted slightly during the prize draw presentation. To the amusement of both sets of fans, the sprinklers became active, leaving both Dodd and his assistant a little damp.

The Hampshire club may be a little glum after their home defeat, but things could be on the up for Gosport Borough very shortly – particularly if their loyal fans can help them raise funds by switching to their personalised betting site!
