Eastleigh appoint former Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore

By Matt Bishop

club have unveiled Ronnie Moore as their new manager.

Moore left League Two side Hartlepool by mutual consent in February, and has signed an initial two-year contact at the Hampshire club after previous manager Chris Todd was sacked on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old said: “I'm absolutely delighted, I couldn't ask to be going to a better club.

“I know a lot of the players at Eastleigh from previous clubs, so I'm looking forward to the challenge.

“Hopefully, we can go on and get what the club deserves and that's promotion to the League.

“The chairman is so enthusiastic about what he wants for the club. His energy and enthusiasm – it straightaway made him a guy I can work for.”

Moore saved Hartlepool from relegation in stunning fashion in 2015, taking charge of the side in December 2014 and overturning a 10 point deficit to preserve the Football League status of Pools.

He has also enjoyed spells in charge at Oldham, Tranmere and Rotherham, where he won two promotions with the Millers.

Eastleigh chairman Stewart Donald said: “Ronnie brings with him a huge amount of experience and knowledge.

“The passion and commitment that has been clearly evident during our conversations made him the natural choice.”

Moore will watch from the stands as his new side take on on Saturday, with midfielder Ben Strevens taking charge, before he takes the reigns completely on Monday.
