Marathonbet unveiled Chris Sutton as their first Non-League Challenge player of 2017 this week, the ex-Celtic, Blackburn and Norwich striker will join the likes of Emile Heskey, Sol Campbell, Christian Dailly and Danny Gabbidon in turning out for the NLC team on the 30th July.
The ex-England striker was announced as Marathonbet’s next legend on their social media channels this week with the BT Sport pundit reading a series of Mean Tweets on Twitter.
Sutton will line up against a team to be announced on Monday, May 1, who produce the best non-league goal celebration with the winning club also receiving a £10,000 cash prize.
Last season’s winners National League South side Wealdstone FC bagged the cash prize and friendly match after their iconic fan the Wealdstone Raider entered the pitch and along with Stones players re-enacted Paul Gascoigne’s memorable Dentist Chair celebration from Euro 1996.
The top Non-League Challenge celebrations will be shortlisted in April where voting will then begin to find out which club will be crowned 2016/17 winners.
