AFC Telford United could fold warns managing director

managing director Lee Carter has warned the club could potentially fold in a year's time.

Carter dropped the bombshell at a fans' forum last night with attendances at The New Bucks Head down 28 per cent following relegation to the North.

The club, who are currently bottom of the pile with one league win all season, brought back Rob Smith and Larry Chambers to replace Steve Kittrick in August.

The Bucks have 17 players currently on contract and chairman Ian Dosser said appointing former boss Kitrick last December “was a mistake”.

“The way we're going, we will not have a club here in 12 months' time,” said Carter.

“We've seen a number of people leave the club from the board over the last few months and people have stopped coming here in their droves on a Saturday.

“Things have got to change but things will be better if the 250 members of the Supporters Trust give us a mandate to decide what to do.”

Chairman Dosser added: “To lose 500 off our average gate puts us in a pretty difficult situation.”
