AFC TELFORD UNITED boss Rob Smith apologised to supporters after Tuesday night's loss at Gloucester City, slamming his players for a lack of spirit.
The Bucks were well beaten 3-0 to leave them in 16th position in the National League North table with two wins from their opening 11 games.
It's been an inconsistent start for the club and they have now lost twice on the road following an impressive home victory against high-flying Kidderminster Harriers.
Smith, who returned for his second spell in charge of the Bucks last August, says he will “do everything” he can to turn the club's fortunes around as they search for some kind of consistency.
He told the Shropshire Star: “I want to apologise to the supporters. They were having a go at me at the end of the game and I can't agree more with them.
“It was a poor performance. You wouldn't believe that was the same team that beat Kidderminster Harriers seven days ago, that's what we were talking about in the changing room after the game.
“The players just totally lost their confidence, but more than that they are not showing any spirit at the moment.
“We are looking at the performance and thinking what has happened? I can't put my finger on it. Rest assured I'll do everything I can to get it right.”
