PETERBOROUGH UNITED have dipped into Non-League for the second time in a week to sign highly-rated Stockport attacker Danny Lloyd.
The Posh, who have taken a number of players from Non-League over the years, signed Dover Athletic striker Ricky Miller last week.
And they have followed that signing up with another addition from below the Football League, securing Lloyd's signature after his Stockport contract expired.
The 25-year-old former Colwyn Bay, Lincoln City, Tamworth and AFC Fylde winger scored 29 goals and created 19 for the Hatters this season, helping them to the brink of the National League North play-offs.
Lloyd, who has quit his job as a business development manager at waste disposal giants Biffa, has signed a three-year deal at London Road and can't wait to get going.
“It was an easy decision for me if I am honest,” he told Posh's website. “As soon as I heard about the interest from Peterborough, I wanted to sign. I am a player who likes to create and score goals, I am direct, quick and always want to go forward.
“If I am honest, I wish pre-season was starting tomorrow because I am eager to get going. This is an opportunity for me and I am going to work extremely hard from day one.”
Peterborough boss Grant McCann added: “I am delighted to sign Danny, he adds to the attacking threat. He has scored a lot of goals and created a lot of goals too and he will be a great addition to us moving forward.
“He has a real hunger and desire, he is a good age and it is pleasing that he has committed to the Posh. The Posh fans will like him because he plays on the edge and has a good temperament. He likes to get forward at every opportunity and I am looking forward to working with him.”
