LUTON TOWN boss John Still has refused to get carried away this season and he's not about to start now, saying he feels “calm” prior to the game that could seal the Skrill Premier title.
The Hatters will clinch the league title and a return to the Football League after a five-year absence if they can overcome a team who have often proved to be a thorn in their side.
The Iron were victorious on their last visit to Kenilworth Road and they have beaten Still's men in three of their five Skrill Premier meetings.
Despite owning up to a case of the pre-match jitters, Still feels his side are ready to finish the job with three points against the Essex club.
“Are there nerves? Of course there are,” he said.
“But in general I'm feeling pretty calm. I'm lucky because my dad was never a worrier and I think I've got that trait.
“We can go on and win the title without relying on other teams or results. We haven't got to the top by being a poor team – we've got here with hard work, belief and great quality.
“We're focused, ready and up for the challenge. We can't wait for the match to get started.”
If Braintree can spring a surprise by spoiling the party in the early-kick off, it will offer the faintest glimmer of hope to chasing Cambridge United, who ensured Luton would have to wait a little while longer to be crowned champions with a comfortable 3-0 win over Woking on Thursday night.
Still is taking nothing for granted though and realises the threat the visitors pose. He said: “They will look at this game as a wonderful opportunity to justify them being in the play-offs.
“We've had tough games all season and Saturday will be no different.”
A bumper four-figure crowd is expected for the match, which kicks-off at 12.52 on the Hillsborough remembrance weekend.
