Welling United sack Jody Brown after just nine games

have sacked boss Jody Brown after picking up just one point in nine Conference games.

Ex- manager Brown joined the Wings to replace Ebbsfleet bound Jamie Day just before Christmas but has struggled to get points on the board.

His only draw in charge came at home against Torquay in his second game but they have since lost seven in a row, including Saturday's defeat to fellow strugglers Nuneaton Town.

Following the defeat at Liberty Way, Brown hit out at disgruntled supporters, saying: “We lost 1-0 and they (the fans) think it's my fault.

“Fair enough, they've paid their money but we've lost to a goal when it's a five-on-two breakaway and, if they think that's down to me, that shows their level of knowledge I suppose.”

A Welling United statement read: “The board felt that they had to act immediately in the best interests of the club's short-term aim of avoiding relegation.

“The board would like to place on record their thanks to Jody and his coaching staff for their efforts in the past two months.”

Welling defender Loui Fazakerley, who has made over 200 appearances for the Wings, has taken over as caretaker manager.
