More bad injury news for unlucky Woking

LUCKLESS have been dealt another major injury blow after centre-half Ismail Yakubu was ruled out for 12 months with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Former AFC Wimbledon and Newport County defender Yakubu has been in fine form for the Cards since signing in the summer.

However, his season has been cruelly cut short after injuring his knee in the draw with on Saturday. Scans confirmed he had ruptured his anterior cruciate and would miss the rest of the campaign.

It follows striker Scott Rendell's season ending injury – also an anterior cruciate ligament rupture – in the first game of the season at Tranmere.

Defender Mike Cestor is also battling back from the same injury which he sustained in December.

Manager Hill said: “I have over the years had some top quality defenders, and Ismail is up there with the best of them.”

A Cards statement added: “Woking Club can confirm that scan results have revealed that Ismail Yakubu has ruptured his anterior cruciate, and will be out for 12 months.

“Ismail has been in outstanding form this season, and as you can imagine he is absolutely devastated to know that his season is over before it's hardly begun.

“This is the third serious cruciate injury in less than a year that the club has suffered, Scott Rendell and Mike Cestor suffering the same unfortunate fate.”
