have terminated the loan of striker Mike Phenix with the club claiming he missed the coach for Saturday's trip to Kidderminster.

Phenix joined the club from Barnsley in August with his loan deal due to run until January 2016. However, boss Paul Carden has cut that short “due to the player's on and off field behaviour”.

The forward caught the eye while playing for AFC Telford United and earned himself a move to League One side Barnsley last season for a fee in the region of £25,000.

He had made 12 appearances for the Sandgrounders this term, netting once in the 2-2 home draw with Tranmere Rovers.

He was due to start the basement battle at Kidderminster on Saturday but was dropped to the bench after “missing all the team coach's pick up points and pre match hotel stop” according to the club.

Phenix came off the bench at Aggborough in the 62nd minute but was later substituted himself in the 87th minute “after angering Paul Carden for a lack lustre no show performance”.

According to the club's live match feed, he “took (his) shirt off, threw it at the dugout and stormed down the tunnel”.

“Paul Carden has sent on loan striker Mike Phenix back to Barnsley following the players on and off field behaviour,” the club added.

Phenix himself tweeted following the Kidderminster game, saying: “I want to apologise for the way I reacted when subbed on Saturday and my input in the game. The fans and club deserve more. Want to be in for (the) long run.”
