Malcolm Crosby sacked by Gateshead

MALCOLM CROSBY has been sacked as manager of Gateshead following Saturday's home defeat to FC .

The managerless Shaymen had a man sent off in the first half but still came out on top 4-1 – sounding the end for Crosby's reign.

The 61-year-old only took over at the International Stadium in the summer to replace who left for rivals .

Saturday's result meant the Heed still haven't won at home since mid-September and are now 12th in the league – seven points of the play-off places.

Crosby, who led Sunderland to the final at in 1992, has his contract terminated on Sunday alongside his assistant Gary Owers.

A Gateshead statement read: “Following a run of poor performances and results, Gateshead have terminated the contracts of manager Malcolm Crosby and assistant manager Gary Owers.

“Chairman Richard Bennett wishes to thank both Malcolm and Gary for their time and effort at Gateshead and wishes them both the very best for the future.”
