Eastleigh swoop to sign prolific striker Matt Tubbs on loan

'S hopes of promotion to the League have received a huge boost after Chris Todd secured the signing of prolific striker Matt Tubbs.

The Spitfires were after another striker towards the end of January's transfer window but they were made to wait and have now picked up Tubbs on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has scored five goals in 17 appearances this season for League Two side Portsmouth, but hasn't featured since the end of October.

And he has now been drafted in by Todd to give his side – who are winless in five games – a lift following Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Lincoln City.

Tubbs is no stranger to having made his name at City, scoring over 100 goals for the Whites before spells with , Crawley, Rotherham, Wimbledon and Pompey.

Chairman Stewart Donald confirmed: “Paperwork sent! Waiting to hear if we have a new player in the squad for tonight! And you were right, it's Matt Tubbs.”
