Wrexham bring in former Welling United duo

boss has added former duo Michael Bakare and Nortei Nortey to his squad while the Red Dragons are also set to receive a £50,000 windfall.

Bakare, who can operate in midfield or attack, has played in 's top flight for , , and and spent last season with the Wings.

The 29-year-old is joined at the Racecourse by his former team-mate Nortey, who can play at full-back or in midfield.

A former Chelsea trainee, the 21-year-old had a spell with Maidenhead United after leaving Bridge before signing for Welling.

On his latest signings, boss Mills told the club's website: “They compliment what we've brought in already. They are two players that will bring something a little bit different to the team.

“Michael has lots of pace and is left-footed which will balance us while Nortei can play in various poitions and is a great athlete.

“Michael will score more goals this season than what he has done. It's a good chance for him to come to a club where he can excel and despite him being 29 I fully believe he will do that.

“Nortei has been at Chelsea and played at Welling last season. He likes getting in the box and will score some goals for us.”

Meanwhile, Wrexham will receive £50,000 after former goalkeeper Danny Ward made his first competitive start for Wales at Euro 2016.

A product of the club's academy, he was signed by Liverpool in 2012 and the 23-year-old earned his third international cap for Wales against Slovakia.

The Red Dragons also received £100,000 after Ward made his first Liverpool appearance against in April.
