Braintree’s Mitch Brundle becomes Gateshead’s 12th summer signing

have continued their vast summer recruitment by bringing in utility man Mitch Brundle.

Brundle, 21, starred in the Braintree side that finished third in the before narrowly losing to Grimsby in the play-off semi-finals.

Many of that squad have since moved on after boss Danny Cowley's exit to Lincoln City and Brundle has become the latest, signing a one-year deal at the International Stadium.

The former Yeovil and Bristol City youngster can play in midfield or defence but says he wants to make the middle of the park his own on Tyneside after becoming Heed boss Neil Aspin's 12th signing of the summer.

Brundle told Gateshead's website: “My versatility can be both a plus and a negative and I want to develop my game in my strongest position in the middle of the park.

“I have taken a punt to move up country from London but I wanted to join a club that would be in and around the play-offs.

“Being involved in the play-off games against Grimsby last season for Braintree was a real buzz and I want more of that at Gateshead.

“They were two good years at Braintree and it's a shame the way the squad has broken up, but I'm delighted to be back in full-time .

“That can only benefit my game. I'm still only young with a long career ahead of me and I'm really looking forward to the challenge at Gateshead.”

Boss Aspin added: “Brundle is a player who can play in a number of positions, that can sometimes work against you but for us it's ideal.

“He can play at full-back, in midfield and in a more advanced role. He is another in the squad with great potential and the ability to make an impact.”
