GARY MILLS says he won't stop smiling despite his side being booed off at the end of their goalless draw against cross border rivals Chester on Saturday.
Mills' side were held by their neighbours, leaving the Dragons 14th in the National League table and the Racecourse faithful far from happy.
Loud boos were heard from sections of the 5,058 crowd but Mills defended his players after the game, admitting “it may not be enough to please some people”.
Ex-Gateshead boss Mills took charge of Wrexham in April 2015 and led the club to an eighth-place finish last term before a summer squad rebuild.
The Dragons have started the new season slowly, raising questions about Mills' future at the Racecourse, but the boss says he will keep working to turn things around.
“I'm not going to stop smiling. Saturday afternoon, game of football, local derby and that's why I've been in the game all my life,” he said.
“If Wrexham want me as manager then great, if they don't I'll move on. I've moved on before, whether by choice or not, but while I'm here I'll give it everything I've got – I always do – and we'll see where that takes us.
“If people want to talk to me I'll talk to them – if they want to shout abuse then I won't. There's a way to right way to talk to people. If everybody comes thinking they're going to win every game it's not going to happen.
“My players have worked so hard today as a unit to get a result for this football club but it may not be enough to please some people. Let's talk about the ones who are behind us.”
