SOLIHULL MOORS have confirmed that they have allowed boss Marcus Bignot to hold talks with Grimsby Town over their vacant managerial position.
The Mariners, promoted from the National League last season, are looking for a new boss following Paul Hurst's move to Shrewsbury Town last month.
Bignot, who used to manager Birmingham City Ladies, is the odds-on favourite to replace Hurst at Blundell Park and has been allowed to talk to the Mariners by his current club.
The 42-year-old helped transform Solihull from Step 2 relegation fodder to National League North champions and recently revealed he has been working without a contract at Damson Park since taking over in the summer of 2011.
Considered one of the brightest young managers outside of the Football League, Bignot could be set for a move into the professional game with Moors not wanting to stand in his way.
A club statement read: “Solihull Moors has granted permission to Grimsby Town to speak to Marcus Bignot about their vacant managerial position.
“The board wishes to place on record that whilst it would not wish to stand in the way of an individual's ambition, it is eager to retain the services of Bignot to continue the progression he has made at the club in his five-year tenure.
“It is hoped that the talks will reach a swift resolution to ensure minimum disruption for all parties and the club will endeavour to update supporters in due course.”
