Bromley allow former skipper Rob Swaine to leave after defender asked to terminate contract

side have allowed former skipper Rob Swaine to leave the club after the defender asked to terminate his contract.

Swaine had been at Hayes Lane for three-and-a-half years and will be fondly remembered by supporters for being the man who captained the 2014-15 Conference South winning team.

The Ravens finished a comfortable 14th in their first season in the National League and Swaine has put in a number of impressive performances this term, helping Neil Smith's side into mid-table.

However, his time at Hayes Lane is now over after the defender asked to be released from his contract.

Swaine told the club's website: “I would like to thank everyone associated with Bromley Club. From the management and players past and present, the owners and chairman but most importantly the fans.

“They've been amazing from the time I joined and throughout the many awful clearances and passes, it has been an incredible three-and-a-half years and I leave Hayes Lane with very fond memories.

“I will never forget captaining the team to the Conference South title, it'll stay with me forever.”

Boss Smith added: “Rob has been brilliant since he came to the club but we had a chat last week and he wanted to terminate his contract, we had a good long conversation but he was finding it hard and wasn't happy.

“I want players who want to be here and he didn't so we have to move on and progress as a club together both on and off the field.

“It has all happened rather quickly, it wasn't necessarily a position we were looking at up until very recently. We have a couple of replacements in mind and are in negotiations with but we have to make sure it's right for the club.”
