TRANMERE ROVERS boss Micky Mellon believes the permanent addition of midfielder James Wallace is a “huge boost” to the whole club.
Wallace, 24, returned to Tranmere on loan from League One side Sheffield United in November following a previous two-year spell at Prenton Park.
Wallace became a fans' favourite with his committed displays during his first spell, making 60 appearances and scoring four goals.
He left the club in the summer of 2014 to sign for Sheffield United but now returns to the Wirral permanently, teaming up with boss Mellon again following a brief loan spell at Shrewsbury Town last season.
The midfielder, who has signed an 18-month contract, has helped Tranmere up to third in the National League and they are just two points off leaders Lincoln City.
Boss Mellon told Tranmere's website: “It's a huge boost to everybody at the football club to sign someone of James' quality.
“We're pleased that we've been able to bring another good addition into the group.
“I'd always hoped we'd be able to sign him because we know what a quality player he is, so I'm delighted to get him on board.
“He has great composure on the ball and helps give us control of games from the midfield. We are continually trying to improve and I believe that adding James' quality to our squad will certainly do that.”
