striker Inih Effiong has moved into full-time football, signing a deal with side Barrow until the end of the season with a year's option.

His performances were reportedly attracting interest from clubs in the Football League as well as north of the border in Scotland.

Barrow, however, have won the race for the forward's signature and he could make his debut in the top of the table clash with Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.

Effiong joined Biggleswade in the summer of 2015 and netted 16 times in all competitions last term before enjoying a fantastic first half to this season.

Before signing for the Waders, Effiong had turned out for , , , and .

He will now make the two step jump up to 's top tier with Paul Cox's Barrow and the striker had plenty of praise for the club he was leaving behind.

Effiong said on Twitter: “Would like to say a massive thanks to Biggleswade for dealing with me the past two season, it's been a crazy 15 months for me.

“Biggleswade and manager Chris Nunn have supported me the whole way through everything, all the best for the rest of the season. Hopeful to see the boys do well and get in the play-offs, going to miss all the boys, love for my team.”

Barrow boss Cox told the North West Evening Mail: “He's a lad who, if you look at his past, has had a lot going on in his life.

“What he has done now, is really buckle down with his football over the past six to eight months. That has shown in his performances.

“We were in quite a long line of clubs who wanted to sign him – some of them Football League clubs, some of them at our level.

“Although he's 25, I see him like Richie Bennett and Jordan Williams, in that if he comes in and grabs an understanding of what we want from him, he could be a major asset at this level of football.”
