New North Ferriby United signing Matty Dixon targets survival after switch from York City

NEW United signing Matty Dixon has swapped one relegation battle for another after joining the club from .

Dixon, 22, started his career at Hull City and captained both the U18 and U21 sides before making one appearance for the Tigers' first-team.

During his time with Hull, he enjoyed a loan spell in the Conference North with but remained in the League after leaving the Tigers, signing for League Two side York in January 2016.

He initially signed an 18-month deal and played seven times in League Two last season as the Minstermen were relegated back into .

Dixon remained at the club over the summer and has played 13 times in the for York this season with City struggling at the bottom of the table.

His last appearance, however, came on November 29 and he left the Minstermen by mutual consent last week.

North Ferriby, just one point and one place above York, have moved quickly to give Dixon a chance and he wants to help his new club remain in Non-League's top tier.

Dixon told Ferriby's website: “I'm hoping to play as many games as I can and hopefully keep this club in this league.

“I'm a player that can get around the pitch and my best asset is probably my passing.”
