STRIKER Inih Effiong says he is confident of becoming a better player at Woking after choosing the Cards as his next destination in Non-League's top flight.
The 26-year-old moved up to the National League from Southern Premier side Biggleswade Town in January, signing for Barrow after reportedly being monitored by clubs in the Football League and in Scotland.
Unfortunately for the forward, he struggled for regular game time at Holker Street and scored once in seven appearances after netting 23 times for Biggleswade.
Now he will be given another chance to prove himself at Step 1, putting pen to paper on a deal with Woking after having a meeting with boss Anthony Limbrick.
The striker says he was impressed by the Cards' new manager and is confident he can hit the goal trail, much like Gozie Ugwu who scored 17 National League goals for Woking last term.
Effiong told the club's website: “Barrow was an opportunity I wanted to take as it has taken a long time for me to get a professional deal.
“I enjoyed my time there but Barrow had a big squad and the players in front of me kept scoring so they kept the same team – it was unfortunate.
“I had a meeting with Anthony and we spoke about what he wants to do at the club. Player development was key to him and that was big for me. I'm 26 but still feel I can develop a lot.
“The most important thing that people care about as a striker is goal scoring, and I do score goals, so that's one thing I can bring to Woking.”
Boss Limbrick added: “We have known about Inih for while now and are really pleased to have him secured for next season.
“He has great physical attributes and having scored many goals at the level below this is a good opportunity to prove himself here at Woking Football Club.”
The Cards have also been boosted by the news that defender or midfielder Joey Jones has agreed a new deal at Kingfield.
Jones said: “Anthony is bringing a new philosophy to the club, there's a big change, although I'm at the same club it feels like a different club in the sense that there's a new manager in place, there's new training, and I'm looking forward to it.
“Obviously the fans will be here and they will be brilliant as usual again, and hopefully we can get loads of support this season and do something special.”
Limbrick has, however, released Zak Ansah, Max Kretzschmar, Michael Poke, Brian Saah, Frazer Shaw and Ismail Yakubu.
