CAMBRIDGE UNITED boss Richard Money says his side are treating every match like the play-offs between now and the end of the league season – starting with the clash with Hyde tomorrow.
The U's can however still mathematically claim top spot in the Skrill Premier and they ensured Luton will have to wait a little while longer to clinch the title after a comfortable 3-0 win away at Woking last night.
The result stretched United's unbeaten run to nine matches – and now Money is challenging all of his players to fight for their starting place ahead of the play-offs.
He said: “We've shown a resilience in recent weeks which is encouraging.
“The wins this week have proved the value of a squad and they have shown the players that they all have chances of getting into the starting line-up in the coming matches.
“We're going to play every game like it is the play-offs now as it will give us the winning mentality and we want to win every game in style.
“But it is also important to earn victories when you're nowhere near your best which is what happened against Southport last week.
“We want to keep up this performance level to give ourselves the best chance of having a real good run at the play-offs.”
Victory over already relegated Hyde on Saturday will cement a place in the top five for the U's – and Luton will be crowned champions if they overcome Braintree in the early kick-off at Kenilworth Road.
But Money is focusing purely on his own side and admitted he will be looking to rotate his squad once more when the league's bottom club visit the Abbey Stadium.
“We've got a good group and a number of our players are in decent form,” he said. “I would think we'll make a lot of changes tomorrow.”
