WHITEHAWK have named former West Ham, Charlton, Newcastle and Crystal Palace goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman as their fourth boss of the season.
The Hawks started the campaign as one of the favourites for promotion but after a slow start to the season, they sacked Argentinian Pablo Asensio and replaced him with Richard Hill in September.
Hill, who won promotion from the Conference South with Eastleigh, departed the Enclosed Ground at the end of November to take up a coaching role at Aston Villa.
The Hawks had won five of Hill's ten league games in charge and they then turned to Alan Payne and Paul Reid as joint-bosses.
After a poor run of results, however, the club confirmed after Saturday's home defeat to Weston-super-Mare that the pair had agreed to stand down by mutual consent with Payne returning to his role of director of football while Reid is set to continue as a player.
The Hawks have now appointed Woodman as their latest boss and they will be hoping that the experienced coach can steer them away from relegation trouble in the National League South.
Their last league win came on Saturday, October 29, and they are now two points adrift of safety as Woodman takes the reins.
A former goalkeeper, Woodman has coached at a number of Premier League clubs alongside friend and manager Alan Pardew.
He will now be taking charge himself and Hawks club president Chris Gargan said: “Although this will be Andy's first managerial role, he has a vast amount of knowledge of the game, which is evident from his CV.
“He is a big presence, and will be bringing in some fresh players as we look to move up the table and improve our current situation.
“He is an impressive character, who has many connections and I am excited for the rest of the season.”
