Gloucester City players to subsidise fans’ FA Cup travel costs

players are putting their hands into their pockets to help Tigers fans get to their big game on Saturday.

The side face a 420-mile round trip to Ryman Premier leaders in the third round qualifying and Gloucester players are subsiding supporters' travel costs.

Gloucester City Supporters' Trust were hoping to run a coach for fans to Suffolk but the price of £30 per person was too much.

But because of two donations from Tigers players and an anonymous donor, travel will now cost £15 for Gloucester fans making the journey.

Centre-back Jack Harris told the Gloucester Citizen: “The players love having the support from our fans.

“With the travelling in our league it can be hard to get the numbers at games so we all appreciate whenever they can make it.

“We have a good group of lads at the club that are aware of what the supporters and the Supporters Trust do for us throughout the season.

“When we were drawn against a team that could potentially be one of our longest trips of the season, we wanted as many fans there as possible for what is going to be a massive game for the club.

“So hopefully this gesture will help out and we can get a few more numbers there to support the boys. We wish all those travelling a safe trip.”
