ADAM FLINT will remain as Witham Town manager next term after the club escaped Ryman North relegation on the last day of the season.
Flint was appointed caretaker boss following Garry Kimble's departure at the end of February after a run of just two wins from their previous 18 games left them three points clear of the drop.
Four wins in his nine games at the helm – including last Saturday's 3-2 win over Cheshunt – meant Witham finished in 19th and five points above the relegation places.
Flint had previously served as Witham's assistant manager when the club were in the Essex Senior League and his return proved to be a success for both parties.
He has now been given the job for next season and chairman Mark Nicholls told the Braintree & Witham Times: “We had a meeting and decided to offer the job to Adam and I'm delighted to say that he has accepted it on a permanent basis for next season.
“He did what the club asked him to do in keeping us up and the disciplinary record in achieving that has been superb. It was done with basically the same group of players that were here when Garry left.
“People may turn round and say ‘are you sure?' but why wouldn't we be? Adam is a local lad who wants to make his mark and he deserves his chance.
“It was definitely the right decision to ask him to take over as caretaker and he's got the whole board's backing for the permanent position.”
