RYMAN SOUTH strugglers Chatham Town have turned to former Hollands & Blair boss Paul Piggott as their third manager of the season.
Piggott was chosen as the man to replace Darren Anslow, who departed the club following Saturday's heavy 7-0 home defeat to Hastings United which left them third from bottom.
Anslow had only taken over at the end of September, stepping up from assistant manager following the resignation of Tony Beckingham.
With the club struggling in the Ryman South relegation zone, the Chats have turned to Piggott, who enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Gillingham-based side Hollands & Blair.
Piggott's first game in charge will be Tuesday night's trip to mid-table side Whyteleafe and director of football Steve Binks believes the club have appointed the right man.
Binks told Kent Online: “It's a really positive move by the club. We like him a lot and I am confident he will be a good appointment.
“He's a former player, he knows the club and some of the committee. He's very approachable and very pragmatic.
“He did a fantastic job at Hollands & Blair. I'm excited about him coming on board and hopefully Paul will bring some much needed stability to the playing side.
“Paul is well liked, well known and we have approached him before about the job but circumstances then weren't right. The time is right now and we are confident he will get us out of trouble.”
A club statement added: “Paul was instrumental in Holland and Blair's recent successes and has previously worked at other Kent sides Faversham and Lordswood and his appointment was ratified at a committee meeting.”
