Hyde United the latest club to become fan owned

have become the latest side to turn to fan ownership following the purchase of the club's ‘A' shares.

The Tigers suffered their second successive relegation last term and will be playing in the NPL Premier but the future is beginning to look bright.

The club have reverted to their former name Hyde United and new chairman Joe Kitchen says it's a good time to be a Tigers fan.

“I would like to thank John (Manship, former owner) for the very preferential terms he offered the supporters to purchase the club,” he said. “I know he could have got a lot more if he had taken other offers.

“A Supporters Trust is now being established. It is a great time to be a fan at Ewen Fields. We have got our ‘United' name back and all the fans are doing amazing things to raise money to ensure the club has a secure future.”

Manship added: “I always had great respect for the fans at Hyde. They gave so much and always out sang other fans even though they were greatly outnumbered. I feel very happy I could help them own their club. I am sure they will do well.”
