AFC Rushden & Diamonds recovering from clubhouse fire

Southern Central game on Saturday will go ahead despite the club suffering a clubhouse fire on Monday.

The blaze at the Dog & Duck ground – also home to – has put the clubhouse out of use and led to the loss of memorabilia, television and audio equipment, furniture and bar stock.

Local brewery Hart Family Brewers have offered to set up a “pop up pub” for use at Diamonds' home game against Beaconsfield SYCOB on Saturday.

The clash will go ahead with the changing rooms being professionally cleaned and an electrician set to check everything is good to go.

A club statement said: “Following the fire in the club house at the Dog &Duck on Monday morning, the club have been working hard to enable Saturdays fixture against Beaconsfield SYCOB FC to proceed.

“With the club house out of action Hart Family Brewers have kindly offered their pop up pub which will have Fosters, Strongbow and Guinness available.  The club house toilets are also not available and therefore supporters can use the other toilets which are next to the decking.

“The changing rooms are being currently being professionally cleaned and the electrician is returning tomorrow to finalise everything for Saturdays fixture.

“The club would like to place on record its gratitude to the numerous offers of help, from local clubs such as Whitworths, supporters and governing bodies. It would specifically like to thank Hart Family Brewers for their help in this difficult time.

“Saturdays fixture against Beaconsfield SYCOB FC will proceed as normal and will include the planned bucket collection for Jack Ashton as previously advised.”
