Louth Town resign from Northern Counties East League

THE have accepted the resignation of Lincolnshire-based Louth Town.

The White Wolves won 26 of their 42 league games in the NCEL Division One last season, finishing sixth.

However, the club formed in 2007 after the demise of Louth United, have now resigned from the Step 6 division. It is unclear whether they will drop to Step 7 or fold.

It means the NCEL Division One now has just 21 teams and the league are yet to make a decision on whether they will run with a team less or hand a reprieve, potentially to relegated .

A league statement read: “The Toolstation NCEL has this weekend accepted the resignation of Louth Town from the competition.

“The White Wolves had been in the NCEL since the 2010-11 season following their promotion from the Central Midlands League.

“Their highest position in Division One was recorded in the 2012-13 campaign where they finished third.

“Further announcements about what this means to the proposed constitution of the league for next season will be made in due course.”
