Thirty spectators at Step 6 game treated to 15 goals!

SUPPORTERS at Eynsham Park on Saturday were definitely given value for money after witnessing a mammoth 15 goals!

The 30 fans at the Division One West game between and visitors Purton were given an almighty treat as both sides went goal crazy.

The staggering scoreline, which ended in a 9-6 victory for Purton, could have been even bigger had both sides taken their full compliment of chances.

Purton raced into a 6-2 lead in the first half before two goals just before half time for North Leigh made it 6-4 at the break.

The visiting Reds were awarded three penalties in the second half, scoring two as they extended their lead once again, making it 8-4 in the 74th minute.

Matt Bennett completed his hat-trick, scoring Purton's ninth before North Leigh made the scoreline look closer, netting two late goals to bring an end to the memorable game.

Purton mainstay Alan Eastwood said: “Purton and North Leigh in their Uhlsport Hellenic Division One West encounter at Eynsham Park last Saurday produced 15 goals, 9-6 in Purton's favour.

“I and the few others that attended the game were amazed by the number of goals converted and all the chances that were missed by both sides.

“Both management teams must have been pulling their hair out at what occurred, more so the Purton management team of Justin Miller and Paul Hunt who after being 6-2 up at one stage had no idea what might proceed. The North Leigh management team were no doubt just as dumbfounded.”
