FA Trophy First Round Draw – Northern Section

Martin Carruthers’ Basford United side have been handed the opportunity to pull off a giant killing after being drawn away to Chesterfield in the First Round of the FA Trophy.

The Northern Premier League team, who achieved promotion from Step 4 last season, will be aiming to topple a Martin Allen’s side that are currently without a league win in their last 18 games.

Meanwhile, another side who will be hoping to upset the odds are Stratford Town, who have been drawn away to last season’s National League play-off semi-finalists AFC Fylde.

The Warwickshire based club have had a tricky start to life in the Southern Central Premier Division this season but progressed into the next round of the FA Trophy last week with a 1-0 win at Mickleover Sports.

Elsewhere, a mouth watering Yorkshire derby has been set up as York City travel to National League high flyers Harrogate Town, while Farsley Celtic will be looking to continue their brilliant start to the season when they travel to Step Two side AFC Telford.
