National League leaders Wrexham have been buoyed by the return of impressive defender Manny Smith.
The former Walsall, Notts County and Gateshead centre-back has resumed training following a knee injury.
The 30-year-old has been absent since the end of August after coming off injured in Wrexham’s 1-0 defeat at Solihull Moors.
Rookie boss Sam Ricketts confirmed Smith would be out for eight to ten weeks, but he is back in the fold although won’t be rushed into the first team.
“He’s easing his way back in. I don’t want to rush him,” Ricketts said.
“I don’t want him coming back any sooner than he needs to. He needs to get back to fitness and then he’ll need a couple of behind-closed-doors games.”
Wrexham lead the National League by a point and head to improving Maidstone on Saturday.
