Hampton and Richmond defender Tyrell Miller-Rodney has been handed a retrospective two-game ban for simulation.
He was charged with successful deception of a match official in winning a penalty during Hampton's televised FA Cup clash against Oldham last Monday evening.
Miller-Rodney said: “It is not within my nature to commit such an act (simulation). I am someone who prides himself on his honesty.”
Manager Gary McCann added: “The FA's decision to ban Tyrell is one that has left me in a state of bemusement. I really can't tell you how disappointed I am with the outcome. I truly feel for Tyrell, who is one of the most honest players you will find. We move on.”
A club statement read: “The referee and an assistant, who was close to the incident, were convinced at the time a foul had been committed by the Oldham player.
“Subsequently, the clip was played endlessly on TV and social media and became the subject of a rant on the Drive programme on TalkSport.
“Tyrell denied the charge and produced supporting evidence to suggest his stride had already been checked by the Oldham man's first challenge outside the box and he was not in full control when the second tackle knocked him off his feet.
“He submitted that the referee and assistant were perfectly placed to make their decision.
“Tyrell's further defence was that the referee was clearly alert to players looking to deceive him because he subsequently cautioned an Oldham player for simulation.
“However, the panel rejected his appeal on Wednesday and he will miss this Saturday's game and the following Saturday at home to East Thurrock in the league. He could play in the Middlesex Charity Cup tie at Spelthorne Sports on Tuesday, if selected.”
Miller-Rodney's ban starts tomorrow against Billericay in the FA Trophy.
