NPL Round Up

Promotion chasing South Shields suffered a late capitulation to lose their 100% home record in the league this season as a late rally from Bamber Bridge saw them come away from Mariners Park with a 3-3 draw.

This result allowed Warrington Town to move into a two point lead at the summit of the table after Paul Carden’s side easily dispatched of Hednesford Town in a comfortable 3-1 win.

There was late drama in the six pointer at the top between third placed Farsley Celtic and fourth placed Nantwich Town as a late Ben Atkinson penalty gave Farsley a potentially vital victory.

Scarborough Athletic also kept their promotion hopes alive with a 4-1 thrashing of relegation threatened Stafford Rangers, while Buxton moved closer towards the play-offs with a narrow win over 6th placed Gainsborough Trinity.

At the bottom, Workington raised their survival hopes after picking up an important win at seemingly doomed North Ferriby.

The Reds’ afternoon was made even better with the news that relegation rivals Mickleover Sports fell to a damaging 3-0 defeat at 15th placed Marine.
