Nuneaton Town hope takeover will be concluded in “next four weeks”

NUNEATON TOWN have confirmed they are in talks regarding a takeover of the club with new owners set to be announced “in the next four weeks”.

Boro were relegated from 's top flight last season and are currently fighting for a play-off spot.

Lee Thorn has served as chairman for 20 months but his reign could be coming to an end with the Warwickshire club releasing a statement to confirm rumours of a takeover – which would include ownership of both the club and their Liberty Way ground – are true.

Ilkeston management duo Kevin Wilson and Steve Chettle were brought to the club in the summer and they revamped the squad, focusing on upcoming youngsters.

Aaron Williams and Callum Chettle were both snapped up by League One side Peterborough United and the club's approach has clearly earned them admirers.

A club statement read: “Following recent questions from both the media and supporters relating to the future direction of , we would like to advise the following.

“For some time negotiations have been taking place with another party to take full control of both the club and stadium, which we hope will be concluded within the next four weeks.

“At the present time we are unable to offer further information on the purchasers due to a confidentiality agreement between the parties.

“We would, however, like to reassure supporters that the proposed investors are looking to not only progress the first team, but also develop the structure of the club's other teams.

“They are very keen to engage supporters and the local community and develop the role the club has with businesses and the people of Nuneaton.

“Due to the constraints of the agreement we cannot go into further detail at this time, but we will make further announcements in due course.”
