LATHANIEL ROWE-TURNER is confident of avoiding a hat-trick of relegations as his Torquay United side continue to battle against the drop.
The defender, 27, returned to Torquay in the summer for his second spell at Plainmoor following a disappointing campaign with Kidderminster Harriers that ended in relegation from the National League.
It was Rowe-Turner's second straight relegation after he also suffered the drop with Alfreton Town in 2014-15.
The left-back played in Torquay's League Two play-off final defeat to Stevenage in 2011 but is now working hard to ensure they don't drop down to Step 2.
The Gulls are 22nd in the National League but just a point adrift of safety with four massive games left to play.
Kevin Nicholson's men face two difficult trips to play-off chasing Dover Athletic and leaders Lincoln City but will be confident of beating fellow relegation battlers Braintree Town and North Ferriby at Plainmoor.
Rowe-Turner admits it's been a difficult season for the club both an on and off the pitch but he thinks they will ultimately be safe come April 29.
“I don't want to do it [relegation] any more – it's not fun, hopefully I don't do it any more,” he told BBC Sport.
“Everyone wants to do well for the manager. Everyone's working hard so I honestly think we'll be all right. I was here for a good two-and-a-half years before, so it does mean a lot to get the club to stay in this league
“It has been difficult to be fair, there's been a lot going on but you've just got to get on with it really. There's more motivation when things are being put against you – it makes you want to work harder and prove them wrong.”
Torquay, meanwhile, have added an extra defensive option by recalling centre-half Ben Herring from his loan spell at Truro City.
