NATIONAL LEAGUE side Woking have announced former West Ham and Southampton academy coach Anthony Limbrick as their new boss – while also confirming they have secured fresh investment.
Limbrick, who will take his first steps into senior management, coached at Southampton for six years after working for the Football Association, coaching the top age groups.
While with the Saints, Limbrick worked with managers Nigel Adkins, Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman before moving on to become England U17's assistant coach.
After leaving the England set-up, the Australian-born coach moved to West Ham where he coached the older age groups and he is currently completing his UEFA Pro Licence.
Limbrick has experience in Non-League football having played and coached at Wingate & Finchley before his move to Southampton.
He replaces experienced boss Garry Hill in Woking's dugout, with the Cards board claiming they were “not in a position” to offer him a new deal despite the club securing their National League status on the final day of the season.
As well as confirming Limbrick as their new manager, and that director of football Geoff Chapple will remain in his role, the Cards say they have secured some much needed investment.
“To this end we have partnered with Blackbridge Sports, a company that acts for UK and international investors in sports around the world, to bring investment into the club,” a statement read
“We are delighted to announce that investment has been agreed, and the transfer of shares in Woking Football Club Ltd held by the existing majority shareholder will go to a General Meeting for approval as per the club's Articles of Association.
“That meeting will be held on a date to be decided towards the end of May, when the identity of the investor will be announced.”
