Phil Rogerson steps down as chairman of Guiseley

PHIL ROGERSON has stepped down as chairman of side after a 37-year association with the club.

Rogerson was introduced to Guiseley by his father-in-law and later became a key part of the club's off field operations.

He has decided to step down as chairman of the Lions, however, having spent last season watching on from afar after relocating to Cornwall.

During Rogerson's tenure with Guiseley, which has included the roles of secretary, director and chairman, the West Yorkshire outfit climbed up from the Northern Counties East and reached 's top tier in 2015.

As well as the success on the field, Rogerson was a driving force behind the Guiseley Academy and the Guiseley Community Foundation.

A Guiseley statement read: “Phil has guided the club through some difficult years but was fortunately at the helm as they reached their highest ever place in the Pyramid, and the memories of these promotions hopefully outshine the down times.

“The board of directors, staff, volunteers and supporters of the club all wish Phil a long and happy retirement and look forward to seeing him at Nethermoor on one of his frequent trips to visit family locally.”

Meanwhile, defender or midfielder Elliot Green has signed up for next season after having his last campaign cut short by injury.
