Stockport County fans provide boss Jim Gannon with timely budget boost

STOCKPORT COUNTY fans have boosted the club's play-off push with boss Jim Gannon's budget receiving a £5,000 bonus.

With the transfer window in the remaining open until the third Thursday in March, Gannon has received a timely raise to his kitty.

The Players' Fund, backed by Hatters supporters, has given Gannon a hand as the boss looks to strengthen his squad for the run-in.

County have lost only one of their previous 14 league matches and with ten games still to go, Stockport are only outside the play-offs on goal difference.

Following years of misery, County are finally dreaming of success again and fans have put their hands in their pockets to try and ensure a return to 's top flight.

Boss Gannon told the club's website: “I really appreciate all the support that is coming from the fans at this stage. At every game we're feeling the support around the ground, but the Players' Fund highlights the hidden work that goes on behind the scenes to go above and beyond the normal duty of fans.

“I am a big fan of the members and volunteers of Help the Hatters and the Stockport County Supporters Cooperative, who contribute so much to the club, and I wish to thank them very much for everything they're doing to improve our stadium, its atmosphere and its feel. The fans are heavily involved across a wide spectrum at the club from the pitch to the Players' Fund.

“I know a lot of work has gone into so many things this season, so I appreciate wholeheartedly this added generous donation to the club at this stage.

“The excitement is building, and with the window closing later this month it's an opportune time to provide the Players' Fund resources. The Board have given me great backing this season, and with this extra lift from the fans it shows the part we are all playing in bringing success back to the club.”
