Joe Ironside enjoys memorable Kidderminster Harriers debut after switch from Nuneaton

JOE IRONSIDE enjoyed a memorable debut for on Tuesday night, just hours after sealing his switch from league rivals Nuneaton Town.

The former United youngster, 23, had scored 18 times for Nuneaton in the to gain attention from other clubs.

Kidderminster won the race for his signature, paying Nuneaton a five-figure fee thanks to the money raised by fans through a Crowdfunder campaign earlier this year.

And supporters certainly liked what they saw on Ironside's debut as he scored twice against as Kidderminster fought back from 2-0 down to win 4-3 thanks to Keith Lowe's stoppage time goal.

Ironside's double took his season's tally to 20 and helped Kidderminster reclaim second place in the North.

“I'm delighted to get off the mark but it's even more important to get the three points,” he said after the match at The Lamb.

“It was a great game for the neutral but we would have preferred it to not have been so tight! I knew I would get some chances and luckily I took them.”

On the signing, Harriers chairman Colin Gordon told Kidderminster's website: “As a club we are not cash-rich and as such, without the Crowdfunder money, we wouldn't be able to bring Joe here.

“A lot of work has gone into signing him and our supporters should be in no doubt as to how much they've made this possible.

“Joe is a young and hungry footballer and was very highly sought after, and we hope he can not only be a big help in our push for promotion, but also a big part of our future.”
