Havant & Waterlooville bid £10,000 for Gosport striker

boss Lee Bradbury has revealed the Hawks have put in a £10,000 bid for striker Justin Bennett of rivals .

Bradbury wants to bring Bennett, 33, to Westleigh Park to team up with former Gosport forward Matt Paterson who Borough bid £7,500 for last week in an attempt to take him back to Privett Park.

Bennett already has 11 goals this season and is the South top scorer following his haul of 34 last term.

Boss Bradbury says the bid wasn't made merely in retaliation to Gosport's offer for Paterson, with the club adding they have used their winnings to fund the offer.

“It's a no brainer for me to want somebody of Justin's goal scoring record who lives local to the club,” the manager said.
