Johnson Hippolyte back in management with Staines Town

STAINES TOWN have appointed former manager Johnson Hippolyte as their new boss.

Hippolyte, 51, has plenty of managerial experience in having taken charge of Yeading from 2001-06 and Maidenhead between 2006-15.

He has taken both Yeading and Maidenhead from Step 3 into the Conference South and Staines will be hoping he can eventually do the same at Wheatsheaf Park.

However, his first aim will be to ensure the Swans don't slip to a second straight relegation with the club currently 20th in the Ryman Premier and just four points above the relegation places.

The former Non-League striker replaces Nicky Forster after the ex-Brentford and boss quit last month.

A Staines statement read: “Chairman Matthew Boon has been in talks with the former Maidenhead United boss and has decided to act quickly to relieve the pressure on the academy duo Martyn Spong and Mark Fabian who have been carrying out the role since Nicky Forster's departure at the turn of the year.

“Johnson, 51 and known to all as ‘Drax', is no stranger to Wheatsheaf Park, having managed rivals Yeading, and then Maidenhead United, for lengthy spells between 2001 and 2015.

“He brings plenty of experience of playing the game at our level, being a former striker with clubs such as Hounslow, , , , , , , Hampton, and .

“Career highlights as a manager have included back-to-back promotions as Yeading surged into the Conference South, and then achieving promotion with Maidenhead in his first season, gaining a sixth place finish in the same league.

“We extend our gratitude to Martyn and Mark for stepping in once again at a difficult period for Staines Town. They have worked extremely hard to steady the ship and to an extent beyond what was asked of them, while continuing to perform their existing roles with the academy & youth set-ups, which will of course continue.”
