have drafted in young goalkeeper George Legg on loan from Reading to replace Nathan Ashmore, who left for South rivals .

Ashmore joined Fleet for an undisclosed fee this week but Alex Pike has moved quickly to secure a replacement with experience.

Legg, 19, has joined on an initial 28-day youth loan having previously spent time at , and more recently Ryman Premier side Borough.

The 6ft 5ins stopper was handed a one-year deal by the Championship Royals last summer at the end of his scholarship and he is continuing to learn his trade in Non-League.

“It's great to have the opportunity to represent Gosport, as they're clearly an ambitious club and they still have a lot to play for,” said Legg, who is expected to start tomorrow for Boro against Ebbsfleet.

“I enjoyed my time playing in both the Southern and Ryman leagues, but the National League is obviously a step-up, and as a young goalkeeper it's important to keep challenging yourself to hone your skills.

“If I am able to play against Ebbsfleet on Saturday it will be, I'm sure, a great test of character, as they're a club clearly geared for the National League top-flight next season.

“For me personally, I will condition myself both mentally and physically as I would do for any Reading U21 fixture, and be the best that I can be on the day. The biggest challenge will be acclimitising myself with how Gosport play, as each side plays a different system.

“If I can play a part to help Boro get promoted, it will be great to add to the football CV, and one that we be great for the management team and fans alike at Gosport.”
