The White Tigers lost 3-0 on aggregate to in the play-off semi-finals but it signalled another season of rapid progress under Tully.

Despite his success in the hot-seat, the club announced on Thursday that his contract would not be renewed for the 2016-17 campaign.

Tully's assistant Wayne Carlisle stepped down at the end of the season due to work commitments and with no successor appointed, the Cornish club have pointed to that as one of the reasons for the boss' departure.

Tully said on Twitter: “Just had the news that my contract is not gonna be renewed, shocked!! But that's . Had 2.5 great years at Truro FC, thanks everyone.”

A club statement added: “After much deliberation, the club has decided that manager Steve Tully will not be offered a new contract for the forthcoming season.

“The club has always seen the manager role as closely tied to that of the first team coach and believes that it is essential to have a strong team in place.

“The departure of coach Wayne Carlisle at the end of the season meant the dissolution of the current team. It has not been possible to find a replacement acceptable to the club within the required timescale.

“Truro City is extremely grateful for the work that both Steve and Wayne have put in over the last two years. Promotion from the Southern Premier League and a fourth place finish in the South this season are achievements of which they can be very proud. We wish them both every success in the future.”
