Dean Holdsworth Leaves Chelmsford City

have parted company with first team manager Dean Holdsworth.

The Clarets have endured a very poor start to the 2013/14 Skrill South campaign, picking up just 13 points from their 13 games.

That is a huge underachievement for a club that have finished in the top six of that division for the past five seasons in a row.

They were also dumped out of the by lower division opposition in the form of Town – a defeat that saw the board of directors decide to cut the playing budget.

Holdsworth, who only took over in the summer, saw his side smashed 6-0 by at the weekend and that proved to be the last 90 minutes of a disappointing tenure for the former Wimbledon star.

The ex-, Aldershot and Newport boss stands down following an agreement that has been “amicably reached for the full and final settlement of his contract”.

Speaking about his departure, Holdsworth said: “With the amount of change in personnel during the summer due to significant budget constraints on the club, we have had to make many changes, we have all tried to maintain a high level of professional standards on and off the pitch, this has been difficult on everyone.

“We knew it would take time and results would be affected but as the club want to make more financial cutbacks as stated in the past few weeks, I'm very disappointed that we haven't been able to complete the challenge on and off the pitch.

“I have come to an agreement with them to cancel our agreement. The club need to move on and I do to as a manager and pro licence coach. I wish them well for the future.”

Holdsworth's assistant Kenny Brown has been placed in caretaker charge for the club's trip to league leaders on Tuesday evening.
