Darren Freeman back in management with Peacehaven & Telscombe

FORMER boss Darren Freeman has been named the new manager of Ryman South side .

Freeman has been out of work since leaving the Hawks in January 2014. He had led the club from the Sussex County League to the Conference South.

He replaces Tony Coade as manager at Peacehaven but the former boss will work alongside Freeman as head coach.

Freeman, who brings goalkeeping coach and assistant manager Ross Standen with him, said: “I'm pleased to be back in . I've known Tony for a long time and we always said that one day we would work together. When I was manager at Whitehawk I tried to get him to join me there.

“I felt the time was now right for me to get back into football and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Over the next few weeks I will evaluate the players and I'm looking forward to progressing this football club.”

Chairman Brian Suckling added: “Tony is delighted with the appointment which he helped to instigate. Darren has a wealth of league experience having played for Brighton, Fulham, Gillingham and Brentford. He previously spent five years at Whitehawk as their manager helping them to a series of promotions.

“Tony has done a magnificent job during a very difficult period for the club and I want to put on record my gratitude for his loyalty and professionalism while he has carried out the dual role of manager and head coach.”
